The 'Pizza Pipe' is a Great Bad Idea

Marijuana smokers are a resourceful bunch. At some point, every weed aficionado has smoked out of an apple, and the truly desperate might have even used the dreaded tin can technique. Obviously, rolling a joint is a traditional option, but given the potency of some new varieties, smoking the entire thing might make you too blazed.

“So given the fact that pizza and pot go together like chocolate and peanut butter, the idea of a pizza box which transforms into a pipe seems like a pretty good idea. For like two seconds, anyway.”

Also, it’s necessary to mention that some folks—like yours truly—couldn’t roll a decent joint to save their lives.

So given the fact that pizza and pot go together like chocolate and peanut butter, the idea of a pizza box which transforms into a pipe seems like a pretty good idea. For like two seconds, anyway. Because seriously, if you’re ordering a pizza—to a house, presumably—and want to get high before grubbing down, you likely have a better way to smoke on hand already. If you’re ordering a pizza to, say, your office and want to get high first? You definitely do.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t merit in concept of the Pizza Pipe. Invented by the pair who developed the Push for Pizza app, the pipe is assembled from a pizza box, using folded cardboard for the pipe’s body and a small ceramic insert—which doubles as a stand to keep the pizza from getting crushed—for the bowl. It’s just a concept, and the chances of the Pizza Pipe seeing widespread production are nil.

A cheap, disposable pipe is an interesting idea, however. If you’d forgotten your piece at home, and just wanted to pick up something utilitarian to use for a quick smoke at the park? Or for a curious pot tourist? It could come in handy. Back in the day, before I realized beer from Holland is universally skunky and disgusting, I’d sometimes use ceramic Grolsch caps as roach clips, so I like the idea of ceramic inserts.

What do you think? Check out pics of the concept below.
