Last night I picked up a couple grams from Issaquah Cannabis Co. I’m always on the hunt for something new, and equally love having my favorites on stand by. Blueberry Cheesecake by Top Shelf– Currently, this is my number one. Like, Saturday night and about to binge watch Wet Hot American Summer on Netflix kind of favorite weed. Like, after my next bowl I’ll probably fail to do a load of laundry like I told myself I would do if I sat home (again) on a Saturday night watching Netflix and getting baked out of my fat skull. I do like sleep though.

Visually this strain can be a bit unsuspecting. Crystally and such, but nothing crazy. Then after this properly cured bud from Top Shelf gets into your fingers, you realize how truly ‘dense’ these nuggets are. I hate it when that word gets tossed around. But these two nuggets I have right here are like damn pebbles. Breaking one open you instantly realize where the name comes from. Even non smokers can smell the Blueberry Cheesecake. And the hit is no different. You’ll taste it on your tongue when you exhale. An Indica dominant hybrid, this is something I smoke when I intend to literally do nothing. This batch rings in at 22% THC, but the high will have you relaxing whether you want to or not.  It set me back $20 for the single gram. I strongly recommend!

Edit: I’ve purchased Blueberry Cheesecake by Top Shelf at least once a week since. I’m finding it’s available most places. Probably my favorite strain of 2015. Pick some up now!

Phantom Cookies by Royal Tree Gardens

Phantom Cookies by Royal Tree Gardens

In need of some smoke on Friday night, I headed down to Issaquah Cannabis Co. to pick up a couple grams. I had been there before, and it’s a bit of a treasure hunt the first time. Make sure you setup your GPS before you hit the road. When you near the building, you can see signs that are easy to follow to get to your destination in the building.

Issaquah Cannabis Company

Wanting to try something new, I decided to pick up a gram of Phantom Cookies by Royal Tree Gardens. I’ve had good experiences in the past with Royal Tree products, and look forward to trying new strains in time. Genuinely my only complaint- packaging. Great, well designed graphics on the bag. But that’s the problem- it’s in a bag.

You should be able to tell by the first then second picture that the buds are smooshed. This isn’t the first, or likely the last time this will happen. Unfortunately, this bag that many in the industry are using, is simply made too snug on the seems that there’s almost no way there won’t be some squishage before it gets in my pipe. It’s a damn shame because some beautiful flowers are losing their integrity to save a couple bucks. And this is in no way a knock on Royal Tree. They’ve got some epic buds out there. I am just urging producers to please consider an alternate bag manufacturer, or switch to something that will keep the buds safe.

Now that I got the negative out of the way, I can get to some positive. This shit is delicious. Seriously a really really nice smoke. Royal Tree buds are always perfectly cured, and they burn the way you would want any bud in your pipe to burn. Great taste, lots of hits, and though I prefer bigger, non squished nugs- these were perfect solo-bowl buds. Total THC under 18%, it’s the perfect Sativa heavy hybrid that you’ll want if you’re a daytime smoker. Your knuckles will be happily off the ground, and you might even be able to take a couple pics and write a blog. At least I did. And I was only set back $18 for the single gram.

Sativa CO2 Cartridge by Evergreen

Sativa CO2 Cartridge by Evergreen

Being somewhat new to the CO2/vape scene, I’ll admit I haven’t been very impressed. Maybe it’s because I’m somewhat of an old man in spirit, not willing to give up my sticky green buds. Or maybe it’s a stubbornness to embrace new trends. Either way, I’ve had some positive experiences to go along with the negative ones, and wasn’t ready to give up on the experience everyone around me seems to be embracing with open arms. Enter Sativa CO2 Cartridge by Evergreen.

Evergreen, a line of CO2 and BHO vape cartridges brought to you by the people of NW Cannabis Solutions. I’m a big fan of their Magic Kitchen edibles line, specifically Pebbles. I figured I should give them a shot, as they were clearly doing the edibles thing the way it should be done.

I tend to lean on the side of Indicas, or hybrids at least, but decided to give their Sativa extract a shot as I would be visiting my hometown over the weekend and didn’t need to be too baked. I mean, I wanna be baked, but gotta talk to grandma at breakfast on Sunday.

First impressions are always important, and this should be no different. A+ packaging, in both design and integrity. A couple months back I had a cartridge leak. A cartridge that was purchased packaged in a plastic bag. Not saying all plastic bagged cartridges are going to leak, but I still wonder if there was some mishandling at some point that led to the cartridge itself being damaged (squished).

Next impressions were well above my previous experiences. I’m happy to say this is the best cartridge I have used since I tried my first last year. It tastes great, with a smooth and clean draw using my Vuber pen. The high itself is relaxing, yet focused. Definitely something I would recommend to others looking for a Sativa cartridge. Though extracts can still be a bit strong for me at times, this is something a daily smoker could use discretely during the day without getting too stoned to accomplish something. Priced at $45 for 1/2 gram cartridge in the middle of Seattle, I will definitely pick up another.
